We're not your average Manchester florist.

And we mean that in the nicest possible way.

We love flowers. We respect the craft. We have nothing but admiration for the independent florists, the flower shops and the market stall traders who have kept Manchester blooming for decades.

But we looked at the way flowers were being sold - wrapped in plastic, bundled in cellophane, named in Latin - and we thought there had to be a better way.

So we built one.

Welcome to Puffs & Petals. Manchester's colour-led floral design studio. And quite possibly the most unexpected flower shop you've ever come across.

So who actually are we?

We're Nathan and Toby. Two puffs from Manchester with a very specific idea and absolutely no interest in ordinary.

Soon to be married - and yes, we're doing our own wedding flowers. Because of course we are.

We built Puffs & Petals from a genuine frustration with the way flowers work. Not with florists. Not with the craft. But with the experience of buying flowers in a world that hadn't really changed its approach in decades.

We wanted something different. Something considered. Something that felt as good to receive as it looked on the shelf - if not better.

So we started from scratch.

The problem with traditional floristry

Here's something nobody in the flower industry really talks about.

Walk into almost any florist in Manchester. Point at something beautiful. Pay for something beautiful.

Get home. Remove the cellophane. The ribbon. The tissue paper. The plastic sleeve. The rubber band around the stems.

And what's left?

Sometimes - something that looks considerably less extraordinary than what you chose in the shop.

The packaging was doing the heavy lifting all along. The presentation was the product. The flowers were almost secondary.

We're not here to name names. The independent florists and flower shops of Manchester are doing important, skilled work and we have enormous respect for that. Floristry is a craft and a good florist is a genuinely talented creative.

But the industry has a packaging problem. Too much plastic. Too much cellophane. Too much gap between what you thought you were buying and what arrived home.

Someone needed to address it.

We did.

Less plastic. More petal.

At Puffs & Petals we made a decision from day one.

No cellophane. No plastic wrapping. No misleading presentation that makes flowers look better in the shop than in your home.

And when the flowers eventually fade - because they always do - what you're left with is something worth keeping.

Which brings us to the tin.

Why a paint tin?

Fair question. And one we get asked a lot.

Every arrangement at Puffs & Petals arrives in our signature branded paint tin. Not a vase. Not a box. Not wrapped in plastic and tied with ribbon.

Here's why.

We wanted a vessel that solved the packaging problem completely. Something that didn't rely on wrapping or presentation to look good. Something that was designed to be displayed - not unwrapped and discarded.

And we kept coming back to the paint tin.

Because every home already knows a paint tin. It's the most familiar object in any household. Industrial by nature. Honest by design. The kind of object that sits comfortably in any interior - minimal or maximalist, modern or traditional - because it was never trying to fit in. It just does.

We filled it with flowers. And suddenly the whole thing made perfect sense.

The tin doesn't need cellophane to look good. It doesn't need a plastic sleeve. It arrives exactly as it is - branded, considered, complete.

And when the flowers fade it doesn't go in the bin. It stays. As a plant pot. A desk organiser. A piece of your home. A keepsake from the occasion it marked.

That was never an accident.

The tin was always the point.

Puffs & Petals is a queer owned florist based in Manchester and we deliver colour-led floral arrangements across Manchester and Greater Manchester every Thursday.

We're not a flower shop. We don't have a walk-in counter or a bucket of pre-made bunches waiting to be chosen.

We're a studio. Every arrangement is made to order, built fresh on Thursday morning, and delivered to your door.

You order by Sunday midnight. We deliver Thursday.

No shop visit needed. No collection required. Just choose your palette and we'll take it from there.
