Let's be honest about something.

Manchester is not short of florists.

There are nearly 8,000 florists across the UK. Manchester - a city that takes everything it does seriously has more than its fair share. Independent flower shops on high streets.

Market stalls in the Northern Quarter. Boutique studios in Didsbury and Chorlton. Delivery services covering every corner of Greater Manchester.

In 2023 Manchester became the first UK city ever chosen to host the Interflora World Cup - the most prestigious floristry competition on earth. The Olympics crossed with the Chelsea Flower Show. Twenty-five exceptional florists from twenty-five countries competing in Manchester Central.

This city doesn't just have florists. It has a genuine, serious, internationally recognised floristry culture.

So why open another one?

Because there was still something missing.

What was missing

Not skill. Manchester's florists have that in abundance.

Not passion. Anyone who has watched a florist work knows this is a craft that demands genuine dedication.

What was missing was a concept.

A floral studio built around colour instead of flower names. Around mood instead of variety.

Around a vessel designed to outlast the flowers rather than go straight in the bin. Around the idea that choosing flowers should feel as instinctive as choosing a paint colour - not as complicated as reading a Latin dictionary.

Nobody had done that yet.

So we did.

Introducing Puffs & Petals

We are Manchester's newest floral design studio. Queer-owned, colour-led and built from scratch on a genuinely new idea.

Built by Nathan and Toby - two puffs from Manchester, soon to be married, doing their own wedding flowers because of course they are - Puffs & Petals started with a frustration and became a studio.

The frustration? Flowers that looked better in the packaging than out of it. Cellophane that did more for the arrangement than the flowers themselves. A gap between what you chose and what arrived home that nobody seemed to be addressing.

The studio? A colour-led approach that changes everything about the way you choose, receive and keep flowers.

How we do things differently

At Puffs & Petals you don't choose a flower. You choose a colour story.

Our seasonal palettes are curated like paint colours - named, numbered and built around a mood rather than a flower list. You find the one that stops you. We build something breathtaking around it.

Vivid. Sculptural. Architectural. Made to order. Every single time.

Every arrangement arrives in our signature branded paint tin. Not wrapped in cellophane.

Not bundled in plastic. Not presented in a way that looks better in the shop than it does in your home.

A tin designed to outlast the flowers. To be kept, displayed and repurposed long after the blooms have faded.

Less plastic. More petal. Always.

There is always room for something genuinely new

Manchester's florists are talented, skilled and genuinely passionate. The craft of floristry is real and the people who practice it deserve enormous respect.

But a city this creative - a city that hosted a world floristry championship, that reinvented music and food and culture and media - deserves a floral studio with a concept to match its ambition.

A studio that looks and feels like Manchester.

Bold. Considered. Completely itself.

We're not here to compete with Manchester's florists. We're here to offer something they don't. A completely new way to experience flowers in a city that has always been open to completely new ideas.

Manchester made room for the Haçienda when nobody else would. It made room for Mana when fine dining felt like London's territory. It made room for Canal Street when the rest of the country wasn't ready.

It'll make room for this.
